Gov. Chafee’s son: ‘No contest’ to violating RI Social Host Law
Caleb Chafee, the 18-year-old son of Rhode IslandGovernor Lincoln Chafee, appeared in Washington County District Court this morning and pleaded no contest to the charge of violating the state’s Social Host Law (R.I.G.L 3-8-11.1). The charges stem from a small private school graduation party in May that Chafee hosted at his family’s Exeter home where guests under the minimum legal drinking age drank alcoholic beverages. He received the maximum penalties allowed under the law; a combination of fines, community service and participation in a program.
