Think our teens are bad? We were worse.

In most measures, the teens of 2012 are far better behaved than we were: they practice safe sex, most don’t smoke pot or cigarettes and they’re better prepared for college. You know what they also do far less than we did? Drink.

In 1982, 69.7 percent of 12th graders had a drink in the past month. In 2011, that number was 40 percent.*
